Iron Maiden's 2000 album Brave New World and its title track are based on Brave New World, the 1932 dystopian novel by Aldous Huxley. Huxley's book was inspired by the social, political, and technological changes that resulted from World War I, the Industrial Revolution, and the Great Depression. Some critics considered the novel to be a futuristic parody of The Tempest.
