Marjan Kamali is an Iranian-American author known for her evocative storytelling and exploration of themes related to family, identity, and cultural heritage. She was born in Turkey and spent her childhood in Kenya, Germany, Turkey, Iran, and the United States. This multicultural upbringing greatly influenced her perspective and writing style.

Kamali holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Stanford University. After working briefly in the engineering field, she pursued her passion for writing and earned a Master of Fine Arts in fiction from the Iowa Writers' Workshop.

Kamali's debut novel, "Together Tea," was published in 2013 and received critical acclaim for its exploration of the Iranian-American immigrant experience.
