Welcome to the 6th Annual Westwood Public Library Adult Summer Reading Program!  Adults 18+  can track the number of hours they read, log books, and complete activity challenges to earn badges and raffle tickets for grand prize baskets.

Summer Reading is generously sponsored by the Friends of Westwood Library.

Between the Covers Summer Reading Challenge for Adults 2021

We've got lots of fun this summer!

Raffle Prizes! You'll need to participate in the activities below to earn raffle tickets. Each ticket is a raffle entry for our Summer Reading Basket Giveaway.

Are you Seeing Stars?  Rate your read with 1 - 5 stars.  1 being poor and 5 being fantastic!  How many would you give your read? This activity earns 1 ticket.  
Would you Recommend Your Book to a Friend?  Yes or No? This activity earns 1 ticket.  
Log Your Reading Hours! Five hour intervals of reading earn you tickets!

Reading Challenge!

Beginning June 1, 2021, you can start recording your reading time located exclusively on the Beanstack app or website. For more information about Beanstack, click here.   

  • Earn a raffle ticket for every 5 hours you read

  • Earn a raffle ticket for every book you recommend (or not recommend)

  • Earn a raffle ticket for every book you rate (1-5 stars)

Summer Reading Activities!

In addition to logging books, you can earn additional raffle tickets by:

  • Attending any virtual summer program for adults.

  • A one time bonus for registering your email to receive our library newsletter.

Virtual Programs Summer 2021

Summer Sweet Treat: Wednesday July 7 @ 6:30 PM

Join Food Explorers to make Key Lime Pie! This tart and delicious pie is easier than you think, and you’ll need the following ingredients: graham crackers, sugar, butter, 2 cans sweetened condensed milk, sour cream, lime juice or 5-6 limes (Key Limes if you can find them!), heavy cream and powdered sugar. Make Your Own Cocktail Thursday July 15 @ 7pm

The only thing better than a glass of bubbly is a cocktail made with bubbly! Sparkling wine doesn't need to be reserved for a special occasion - opening a bottle makes the occasion special all on its own. Fintastic Sharks and Rays Thursday August 12 @ 7pm

Join Joy Marzolf to learn what makes sharks and rays such amazing animals through images from around the world, including great white, great hammerhead, tiger, lemon, whale sharks and manta rays.  Click here for more information and to register for this event.

Basket filled with wellness items to promote relaxation.

 

Basket 3 = Let's Dig In! 

Basket filled with garden related items for the beginner to avid gardener.

 

Basket 4 = Summer Foodies

Basket filled with fun summer themed treats and foods.
